With the help of the proceeds from the wines in our Cherub series that are sold exclusively at SPAR supermarkets in Austria, we support the diverse projects of the Integration House (Integrationshaus) and the Friends Shelter (Freundeschützenhaus). Since its establishment during the confusion of the war in Yugoslavia twenty years ago, the Integration House has evolved into a centre for human rights, migration, and equality..
It continues to be a place of refuge for marginalized members of our society. The Integration House offers a worthy shelter and cares for uprooted victims. These efforts should and must continue. With great perseverance the Integration House has successfully fought its way to achieving official legal status. Unfortunately the Friends Shelter and Purple Sheep still have an uncertain future. The goals are similar: to give victims of war, persecution and displacement a fair chance rather than continued traumatization through unworthy discussions of deportation and asylum restrictions. Next to supporting the rights of asylum seekers and foreigners, the fundamental right to a home and the possibility to work are also priorities.
Purple Eat is a wonderful project that serves this purpose and one that we enjoy supporting. The people who live in the Friends Shelter cook dishes from their former homes at a purple booth at the Meidlinger Market every day. This gives them the opportunity to remain active and to speak of their cultures though culinary arts.
PLEASE COME, TASTE AND ENJOY!
