A good dozen wind turbines just outside Gols are a clear indicator of one of the elements that strongly influence the Parndorfer Platte (Parndorfer Plain). Next to the persistent wind, it was the ancient Danube River that shaped the land and deposited pebbles, red gravel and alluvial sands. The Parndorfer Platte (Parndorfer Plain) drops gradually towards of the Neusiedlersee (Lake Neusiedl) forming an escarpment on which the Salzberg, Gabarinza and other Pannobile sites are situated. This is optimal territory for Zweigelt and St. Laurent. The somewhat cooler environment provides more acidity and structure and extends the vegetation period of vines. Precisely defined, cool fruit notes are the aromatic consequence that is typically combined with a taut, delineated texture.
